Elk Valley Safety Consulting - Your Partner in Occupational Health and Safety
Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Christo Szymiec. I’ve spent over 15 years working with clients around the world, specializing in training, working at heights, confined space operations, and rescue. Before shifting my focus closer to home, I was an expedition leader with two Everest summits and trips to K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum, Ama Dablam, Aconcagua, Spantik, and many other technical peaks.
After years of high-altitude guiding, I decided to transition into a role that allows me to support safety and training in industries that matter—right here in Fernie, BC. I now focus on consulting for construction, mining, ski resort operations, oil and gas, and theatre (back of house).
Beyond work, my priority is giving my dogs Stewie & Lewis and cat Carlos the best life possible—everything else is secondary. Whether I’m skiing and grooming slopes, biking, or building mountain bike trails, I feel grateful to be part of a community that has welcomed me. My goal is to contribute by helping local businesses and workers stay safe while navigating the challenges of compliance.

After years of working around the world—from high-altitude expeditions to industrial safety consulting—I wanted to put down roots in a place that felt like home. The Elk Valley offered everything I was looking for: mountains, a tight-knit community, and a way to stay connected to the industries I’m passionate about.
As an dedicated skier and mountain biker, I was drawn to the incredible outdoor opportunities here. But more than that, I was welcomed by a community that values hard work, adventure, and looking out for one another. That’s why I’m committed to giving back—helping local businesses and workers stay safe while navigating the challenges of compliance.
